PRECISION CONES

The object of this discipline is for the horse to weave through the cones whilst the handler stays on the nearside of the cones at all times.  The handler DOES NOT weave through the cones with the horse.

Speed is not the object of this course – precision is.  The course is done at a walk up and back and then repeated at a trot up and back.

There will be six cones placed in a straight line.

  • Miniature Horses - Cones are spaced 7 feet apart

  • Small Horses - Cones are spaced 9 feet apart

  • Little Horses - Cones are to be spaced 11 feet apart.

The handler is to start with the horse on the near side of the first cone (left hand side) of the first cone, then send the horse away to the off side (right hand side) around the second cone, bring the horse back to the near side (left hand side) around the next cone and repeat to the last cone where both the horse and handler will be on the near side (left hand side) of the last cone, which is completely circled to allow a repeat back down the cones in the opposite direction.

Judge’s decision is final.

Scoring:

Horse will be given credit for:

  • Maintaining an even pace

  • Fluent movement

  • Correct flexion around the cones (flexing the whole body not travelling with back end out)
