Horses must be 48 months of actual age or over to compete in this event and they must show all three gaits:- walk, trot and canter.

Lunge-Line explained:

The lunge-line discipline is to display the horse’s movement, manners, expression, attitude and confirmation.

When indicated by the steward or judge, walk to the centre of the designated lunge area, acknowledge the judge send the horse out to the perimeter of the circle and wait for the start whistle to sound.  The horse must start clockwise and must walk at least one full circle and trot at least one full circle and canter at least one full circle. Turn the horse on the circumference of the ring and repeat.  Halt the horse and collect your lead and horse, acknowledge the judge and exit the ring.

The exhibitor will be allowed 1 ½ minutes (90 seconds) with a signal to be given at half-way (45 seconds). The horse is to be lunged both directions & display all three different gaits – walk, trot & canter.  At the end of 1 1/2 minutes, the signal will be given to signify the end of the demonstration.  You may complete the course before the allotted time and this is not considered a fault.

Judge’s decision is final.
